Christina Laurel - artist creating installations, working in paper.
My mission: to create an "exhale" moment, an oasis that offers a refuge from our daily sensory overload.
Installations: In 2005 I began removing my art from the frame and then off the wall. In 2009 I began creating suspensions that freely rotate. In 2014 shoji paper made its debut in an installation titled "Refugium."
Paper: By printing imagery of my 2-D work onto Japanese paper, I reference my own artistic evolution. Originally I studied fashion design; my fascination with texture remains. I layer paper to create surfaces that invite your "eyes to touch.”
